(ROMEOVILLE, Ill.) — Lewis University’s campus has been notified of at least one confirmed case of mumps and seven probable cases.
Students, faculty and staff are being asked to provide evidence of immunity to the school. If they can’t provide that information, they will be restricted from campus until at least Friday, December 28.
Common symptoms of mumps include fever, headache, muscle ache, tiredness, loss of appetite and swollen or tender salivary glands.
Lewis University says as standard procedure, those with mumps are offered support services and restricted from campus until recovery. Other students and staff who may have had contact with a sick person are notified and the school then cleans any potentially contaminated areas.
