(CHICAGO) Governon-elect JB Pritzker is revealing his top two priorities on behalf of immigrants will be.
Pritzker told the Illinois Business Immigration Coalition he’ll strengthen and fully enforce the Trust Act. That prevents police from arresting someone solely on the basis of their immigration status. And he said he’ll resist any attempt to end temporary protected status for groups like the Dreamers.
“Immigrants shouldn’t be living in fear or hiding out in the shadows. They’re our teachers, business owners, social workers, care givers, police officers, firefighters. Communities depend on immigrants and I’ll be a governor that immigrants can depend upon.”
The other side led by Trump argues Democrats like Pritzker are for open borders.
