(CHICAGO) What do the new Mueller court documents portend for Trump? As one would expect, Illinois Senator Dick Durbin’s has his take:
While some Democrats in the House are chewing at the bit to move toward impeaching Trump, Durbin says the allegations are complicated and the process needs to slow down.
“At this point, I think the role of Congress and the president is very clear. Step back and let Robert Mueller finish his investigation. Don’t put political pressure on him one way or the other. Let him do his professional job.”
On the question of whether a sitting president can pardon himself, Durbin says he’s not sure and it’ll take the supreme court to decide the issue.
