(CHICAGO) In the race for mayor, Susana Mendoza is claiming victory over Toni Preckwinkle’s challenge to her petition signatures.
Nothing official from the Board of Elections yet, but Mendoza claims she’s crossed the threshold of signatures necessary to be on ballot. It takes 12,500 valid signatures and in the challenge proceedings she claims she has more than 13,000.
Mendoza predicted this on the day she filed her petitions.
“We’re good. We’re gonna be on the ballot and I’m super-excited. We were working under a very short time period, but I think we did a pretty awesome job.”
But the process is not over yet and we’re talking Chicago politics, so who knows what can happen yet.
