(CHICAGO) — A judge has set a January date to rule on the case of three officers accused of covering up for former Chicago Police Officer Jason Van Dyke.
Judge Domenica Stephenson on Wednesday set January 15 as the date where she will issue a ruling. She did not give a reason for the delay.
Officer Thomas Gaffney, ex-Officer Joseph Walsh and Det. David March face counts of conspiracy, obstruction of justice and official misconduct for allegedly falsifying information on police reports about the 2014 shooting of Laquan McDonald. Prosecutors contend they did so to make it appear that Van Dyke was justified when he shot McDonald.
Van Dyke was convicted in October. He is set to be sentenced January 18.
