(CHICAGO) — Bond has been set at $200,000 for the gunman police were looking for when two Chicago officers were struck and killed by a train.
Attorney Frank Kostouros told a judge at Edward Brown’s bond hearing Thursday that his client happened upon a fanny pack containing a gun and ammunition accidentally.
“Ultimately he’s a good kind that made a mistake,” Kostouros told reporters after the hearing. “The chain of events that set off for these brave heroic officers to lose their life … it’s just unfathomable.”
Officers Conrad Gary and Eduardo Marmolejo were responding to a report of shots fired when they were struck by a commuter train Monday night.
Brown, 24, does not have a criminal record.
