A Lakewood, New Jersey man is likely celebrating one of the best Christmases of his life after turning a $5 bet into a cool million.
The odds-defining win occurred over the weekend at the Borgata Hotel Casino in Atlantic City. The man, identified only as “Harold M.,” was playing Three Card Poker and bet $5 on the game’s Six Card Bonus option, which allows a player to combine his cards with the dealer’s. Harold was dealt three diamonds: a 10, queen and ace; the dealer was holding a nine, jack and king — all diamonds, too. For those who aren’t familiar with poker, the combined cards make a diamond Royal Flush. The payout: $1 million.
A spokesman for the casino says the odds of that happening are one in 20,348,320.
