(CHICAGO RIDGE) A 15-year old Richards high School student was walking along Central Avenue near 107th Monday morning when she was struck by the driver of a car who kept going.
The driver, an Oak Lawn man, was taken into custody a short time later.
Chicago Ridge Police Chief Robert Pyznarski tells ABC7 that it happened shortly after Oak Lawn police called them to give them a heads-up about a driver who had struck 2 vehicles and taken off. “Our officer spotted the vehicle, turned around to get behind him, and as he did that he observed the vehicle veer to the right and strike a pedestrian which ended up being a student,” said Chief Pyznarski.
The 15-year-old girl suffered severe injuries to her upper body.
