If a Moscow Mule is your drink of choice you may want to re-think that.
A Moscow Mule is made with vodka, ginger beer, and lime juice and served in a copper mug.
In 2017 the Iowa Alcoholic Beverages Division issued an advisory. They said that copper mugs should not be used for drinks with a pH level below 6.0. A Moscow Mule is well below a 6.0.
The reason for the advisory is the acidity of the ingredients in the drink can cause the copper to leach into the drink. Digesting high concentrations of copper is poisonous.
