(CHICAGO) In the state pension crisis, the Pritzker administration is out with a proposed fix that includes selling some state assets like the Thompson Center.
At the City Club, Deputy Governor Dan Hynes proposed two billion in borrowing, seven more years to achieve full funding, consolidating hundreds of pension funds and sports betting.
“Revenue from sports betting is found money. This is not cannibalizing from another boat. This isn’t sharing the wealth from other regional areas. This is money we’re losing every day we don’t pass the legislation. We need to be first in the Midwest.”
And while they still want a graduated income tax, they’re not going to start taxing retirement income.
