An Amtrak train that has been stranded in the Oregon snow for more than 36 hours is finally on the move again.
The train departed from Seattle to Los Angeles on Sunday, but got stuck outside Eugene, Oregon after hitting a tree that had fallen onto the tracks in the heavy snow.
Despite being stuck for a day and a half, the 183 passengers on board remained upbeat, with one passenger, Rebekah Dodson, describing it as “a giant kumbaya party”.
As of 10am on Monday, the train was officially moving again, headed back to Seattle. In a statement, Amtrak apologized for the delay and promised ‘refunds and other compensation’ to the passengers.
