(SPRINGFIELD, Ill.) — Slow down and move over. That’s the message from Illinois State Police after the state has seen 11 troopers struck by passing motorists since the start of the year.
Scott’s Law requires drivers to slow down, switch lanes if possible and be alert when approaching a vehicle stopped on the side of the road.
“It’s not always feasible to switch lanes but it is always feasible to slow down … most of all, pay attention,” says ISP spokeswoman Mindy Carroll.
The latest incident occurred this weekend when a trooper was struck in his squad car in Downstate Montgomery County.
