(CHICAGO) At City Hall, the long-delayed proposal to start webcasting City Council committee meetings has finally advanced.
Live webcasting of full City Council meetings finally began not so many years ago and now the proposal to start doing it September 30th in all of the city council committees has finally gotten out of the rules committee, where proposals usually go to die.
They still have to find the modest amount of money to pay for it, but downtown Alderman Brendan Reilly – literally the City Hall alderman – told his colleagues he’s willing to use some of his ward money if necessary.
“I will put up my aldermanic menu money to pay for it!”
Something that stalled in the rules committee was Mayor Emanuel’s proposed ethics reforms for the City council.
