Hopefully Twitter has some deep pockets because a California lawmaker just filed a suit against the social media giant, alleging the blocking of his posts and elevating defamatory content against him.
Republican Rep. Devin Nunes claims the site “shadow-banned” him “in order to restrict his free speech and to amplify the abusive and hateful content published.”
The complaint details the parody account @DevinNunesMom, which posted “hundreds of egregiously false, defamatory, insulting abusive, hateful, scandalous and vile statements about Nunes”.
Nunes wants $250 million in compensatory damages and $350,000 in punitive damages.
