A medical examiner has confirmed the official police account of a Virginia teen’s death: She shot herself through her mouth while her hands were cuffed behind her back.
The results back up the Chesapeake Police Department’s report of the incident, which occurred in July of last year. Sarah Wilson was the passenger in a car being driven by her boyfriend, Holden Medlin, 27. They were stopped by narcotics officers, who handcuffed Wilson. When Medlin attempted to run, officers left Wilson unattended while they struggled to detain him. That’s when the handcuffed Wilson managed to find a gun, “contort” her body and shoot herself through her mouth, police maintain.
Among those not buying the story is Wilson’s mother, who says, “In all of her life I have never known of her to shoot a gun, own a gun, or even hold a gun.”
