51 children have been rescued in Italy after the bus they were on was hijacked by its driver and set on fire.
The BBC reports two classes of teens an an adult escort were on their way from school to a gym in Milan when the driver pulled a knife on them.
Police were alerted by a parent who was phoned by their son. Gas was poured around the bus and lit. Authorities smashed windows to get the passengers out before the bus erupted in flames.
The 47-year-old Senegalese man, who officials say has a criminal record, has been arrested. Italy, which has been on the front line of migration across the Mediterranean, has been trying to take a tougher stance on criminal migrants.
