A San Francisco man who spent more than eight years in prison after being framed for murder was just awarded $13.1 million by the city’s Board of Supervisors.
Jamal Trulove was sentenced to life in prison in 2010 for the murder of his friend and neighbor. But last year a jury determined that detectives had fabricated evidence, withheld information, and coerced a witness to secure a conviction against Trulove.
Trulove’s attorney says the aspiring actor and hip-hop artist was stabbed in prison and has ‘endured a lot’. The four officers named in the case have all since retired.
