In what’s being called the largest drug seizure in Philadelphia’s history, officers on Tuesday found at least 537 kilos of cocaine aboard a ship heading from Colombia to Europe.
The cocaine, which is valued at $27,000 per kilo, was found in a cargo container aboard a ship called the Desiree, officials say. The total street value of the haul exceeds $14.5 million.
No arrests have been yet and the seven law enforcement agencies involved in the seizure haven’t said whether they’ve identified any suspects. The investigation is ongoing.
