Have you heard of chickenpox parties? That’s where parents send their kids to spend time with another who has the childhood disease so they pick it up too. Apparently, Kentucky’s governor is a fan.
In a Tuesday appearance on a Bowling Green talk radio station, Governor Matt Bevin admitted that he intentionally exposed his nine kids rather than getting them vaccinated by sending them to an infected neighbor’s house.
“They were miserable for a few days, and they all turned out fine,” the Republican told the hosts, adding that he’s against mandatory vaccinations because “This is America.”
Meanwhile, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention isn’t a fan of such ways of contracting the disease, noting the potential dangers on their website.
