Since they started keeping records in 1922, more than 200 people have died attempting to climb Mount Everest. Most of those bodies were never recovered due to the extreme conditions.
But as the glaciers melt on the world’s highest peak, perhaps closure can start coming to their families.
“Due to the impact of climate change and global warming, snow and glaciers are fast melting and dead bodies are increasingly being exposed and discovered by climbers,” says the former president of Nepal Mountaineering Association, Ang Tshering Sherpa.
Many of the recovered bodies and parts have been found at the Khumbu Icefall.
