Turns out those signs warning people not to feed the birds actually have some weight behind them as one British man just found out.
Ian Chapman was snacking away on some McDonald’s while sitting in a parking lot. Seeing a flock of seagulls, he tossed them pieces of his McMuffin.
Wrong move the 62-year-old learned. A few days later he received a £50 ($66USD) fine from the Nottingham City Council, charging him with littering.
Paying the ticket just so it would go away, Chapman told the UK Metro , “It just seems like extortion to some degree. It’s absolute pettiness and that’s how they create an income.”
