This is why you should always double check what you’ve packed before a big trip. Especially when you can’t just turn the car around. Or in this case, the space shuttle.
NASA needed to cancel Friday’s first ever all-female spacewalk over a lack of spacesuits that could fit both female Expedition 59 astronauts.
Instead of Anne McClain and Christina Koch working on the battery installation for the Space Station’s solar arrays, Nick Hague will take McClain’s place. She will then join David Saint-Jacques for part two of the project on April 8.
In a statement released Monday, the space agency admitted, “McClain learned during her first spacewalk that a medium-size hard upper torso – essentially the shirt of the spacesuit – fits her best. Because only one medium-size torso can be made ready by Friday, March 29, Koch will wear it.”
