New Jersey’s governor will sign a bill allowing terminally ill patients access to life-ending medication. New Jersey residents given six months or less to live by their doctor would have the right to seek the medication.
New Jersey will become of seven states allowing assisted suicide, joining Washington, Colorado, Vermont, California, Hawaii and Washington. Washington D.C. also allows assisted suicide.
Proponents say this gives patients dignity. Opponents worry about vulnerable patients and are urging improved health care.
