A county in New York has taken a proactive approach to help stem the spread of measles — by banning unvaccinated minors from public places.
Making the announcement Tuesday, Rockland County Executive Ed Day also declared a state of emergency for the region, which has reported 150 cases of measles since October of last year.
The ban follows last month’s decision by a federal judge to deny a request from parents to allow 44 unvaccinated children to return to a Rockland County school.
