The state may be known for high obesity and cigarette-use rates, but West Virginia is getting accolades for their vaccine policies.
The state enforces strong vaccination policies and is the only state to have a non-medical exemption to vaccines. Oh, and West Virginia hasn’t had a measles outbreak in 25 years, according to theweek.com
Other states are following the Mountain States lead; Washington is looking to remove non-medical exemptions. The state is suffering a wide-spread measles outbreak spread by children who haven’t been immunized.
West Virginia lawmakers say they have no intention of bowing down to pressure from anti-vaxxers and say their policies are sticking around.
