Paying for health care in the US is a leading cause of financial concern for Americans, with a new survey revealing that 1-in-8 needed to borrow money to pay off their medical bills.
West Health-Gallup’s report, “The U.S. Healthcare Cost Crisis,” found that $88 billion was borrowed just last year.
The survey, released on Tuesday, noted that 65 million adults ignored a health issue over cost, and a quarter needed to cut back expenses elsewhere to pay a health-related expense.
The results also showed that 45 percent of Americans are worried that a health problem could leave them bankrupt.
