A Washington state man is facing rape charges after police say he impersonated a rideshare driver to lure a victim to his car.
Israel Ramos-Islas, 34, is expected to be formally charged with first-degree rape when he makes his initial court appearance on Monday, the King County Sheriff’s Office reports. Investigators say the incident occurred in December when a woman left a Seattle-area bar to catch a rideshare that her friend had ordered for her. Ramos-Islas pulled up and, after he led her to believe he was responding to the call, she got into his vehicle. After leaving the bar, he pulled over and raped her before driving her home, court documents reveal.
Ramos-Islas is being held on a $750,000 bond.
