Another Democrat has thrown his hat into the ring to run for President, joining an already crowded field of 17 others from the party.
Appearing Monday night on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert”, Eric Swalwell announced that he is running in 2020, revealing that he filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission.
The California Congressman said he believes many Americans feel like they’re in “quicksand” and can’t get ahead, which he claims, “None of that is going to change until we get a leader who is willing to go big on the issues we take on, be bold in the solutions we offer and do good in the ways that we govern.”
Swalwell will host his first campaign event on Tuesday, holding a town hall in Sunrise, Florida, near where the Parkland school shooting took place last year, to discuss gun violence.
