The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has upheld the death penalty for a man convicted of shooting two state troopers during an ambush attack.
In 2014, Eric Frein shot two officers, killing one, outside of their barracks in northeastern PA. Police staged a 48-day manhunt, eventually finding Frein hiding out in an abandoned airplane hangar.
But even though the Court upheld the death sentence, Frein won’t be executed anytime soon. Pennsylvania has not held an execution since 2001, and current Governor Tom Wolf has said he’ll continue to grant reprieves.
