Here’s your ‘Florida Man’ story for the day – a Florida man will spend a year behind bars for trying to smuggle baby turtles hidden inside candy wrappers.
Prosecutors say Matthew Harrison Kail would hide rare turtles inside candy wrappers, socks, and other items, then ship them to Hong Kong.
Kail was part of a reptile-smuggling ring that operated out of South Carolina. The ringleader, Steven Baker, was also sentenced to a year in prison.
