This never seems to work, but people keep trying anyway. A driver on Long Island just got busted for riding in the carpool lane using a mannequin to beat the occupancy restriction.
Highway Patrol Officer Andrew Spina nabbed James Britt on Monday afternoon after noticing something didn’t quite look right with the extra passenger.
According to the Suffolk County Police, the inanimate dummy was dressed to the nines, sporting a baseball cap, jeans, and a white T-shirt, plus a blue hoodie and sunglasses. Britt even went as far as to place a water bottle in its lap for added realness.
Unfortunately for the Centereach man, Long Island Expressway cops aren’t so easily fooled and he was issued a summons.
