Alabama has passed a law that effectively bans abortion in the state. But at least one Alabama doctor says she’ll continue to provide them.

In an op-ed for CNN, Dr. Yashica Robinson says the new laws are forcing her ” to choose between what is ethical and medically appropriate care and breaking the law”. She says the decision is “deeply personal” as both a physician and a mother who dealt with her own unwanted pregnancy as a teenager.

Robinson also worries that qualified doctors will flee the state rather than “practice substandard medicine”.

Alabama’s new law won’t go into effect for six months and will face many legal challenges before that.
