Country’s First State Bill Decriminalizing Sex Work

In what would be a first for this country, lawmakers in New York have introduced a state-wide bill to decriminalize sex work.

The bill rolled out Monday is called the ‘Stop Violence in the Sex Trade Acts’ and aims to amend state statues in order to decriminalize sex work between consenting adults.

Democratic Senator Julia Salazar, a lead sponsor of the bill, said: “Sex work is work and should not be criminalized by the state.”
