New Zealand Plans Firearm Register

In round two of reforms, New Zealand said it plans to establish a national register for firearms, tighten licensing rules and ban visitors from buying guns.

Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern banned military-style semi-automatic and assault rifles in the first phase of reforms following the attacks on two mosques in the city of Christchurch this past spring.

The PM also noted that the reform would enshrine in law that owning a firearm is a privilege.
