US Steel Will Lay Off 200 in Michigan

United States Steel Corp. will temporarily lay off up to 200 workers at it’s Great Lakes, Michigan facility. In June, the company announced it would halt two blast furnaces at the Great Lakes and Gary Works plants due to the softening demand and low price of steel.

The lay-offs could last longer than six months and will affect nearly every department at the facility. The news comes as the White House says recent tarriffs have turned steel from dead to a thriving business.
