Report: Amazon Tweaked Search Algorithm To Boost Higher-Profit Items

A new report from the Wall Street Journal claims that Amazon is tweaking its search algorithm to boost its own products over less profitable ones.

According to the report, the company pushed engineers to make searches favor its “private label products”.

But Amazon is denying the allegations, saying “We feature the products customers will want, regardless of whether they are our own brands or products offered by our selling partners”.

Amazon accounts for more than a third of all online retail sales.
