Another failed Brexit vote with 10 days to go

In case you’re wondering. The United Kingdom is still part of the European Union after another failed attempt to pass a Brexit bill.

The Evening Standard reports House of Commons speaker John Bercow rejected prime minister Boris Johnson’s demand for a “meaningful vote (official vs indicative).”

Bercow maintained that holding a vote would be “repetitive and disorderly” since it was the same in “substance” to a bill pulled from vote by Johnson Saturday. Rather than an up or down vote, the Commons Saturday voted to withhold approval “unless and until implementing legislation is passed,” according to Bercow.

The UK is up against an Oct. 31 deadline or, without an extension from the EU, it will leave without a deal.
