Facing 3 mos in jail over late books

A Michigan woman faces jail time after forgetting to return a couple public library books.

Melinda Sanders-Jones learned of her arrest warrant when her boss did a background check for a promotion.

Never receiving overdue notices while living in a domestic abuse shelter and forgetting she had the books, she returned them them after library staff reminded her during a visit few months back.

She figured they’d send her a bill for the charges. They never did. Instead, the Charlotte, Michigan library turned her case over for prosecution. Station WILX reports she was fingerprinted and awaits another court date. She faces 3 months in jail and a $500 fine.
