Senate leader Mitch McConnell says the Senate impeachment trial could begin early next week.

The House will vote Wednesday to send the Articles of Impeachment to the Senate. If that happens, McConnell says they will begin “preliminary steps” to begin on Tuesday of next week.

Some of those preliminary steps include an ‘organizing resolution’ to schedule the trial, and Chief Justice John Roberts swearing in senators as jurors.
