The US Border Patrol busted a 14-year-old on Monday night at a checkpoint outside San Diego for having three bundles of crystal meth strapped to his body.
A drug-sniffing dog alerted the officers to conduct a further inspection of the vehicle carrying three teens and an adult.
Besides the 3.35 pounds duct-taped under the Mexican national’s clothing, another 50.71 pounds were found in backpacks inside the car. Officials estimate the street value of the drugs at $102,000.
According to the Border Patrol, they arrested 71 teens in 2018 for smuggling drugs, an increasing tactic by the cartels.
