A New York man who killed his son for insurance money in 2008 has been convicted of doing the same thing to his wife 17 years earlier.

This week, 59-year-old Karl Karlsen was found guilty of murdering his wife, Christina, in 1991 by locking her in a bathroom and starting a fire. Carlsen would later collect $215,000 from a life insurance policy.

In 2008, Karlsen pulled a similar scam with his 23-year-old son Levi, collecting $700,000 after Levi was killed in an “accident” inside Karlsen’s garage. He was sentenced to 15 years to life in 2013 for that murder.
