The Justice Department has launched an investigation into Mississippi prisons after a string of inmate deaths.

At least 15 inmates have died since late December, while gang feuds have forced prison lockdowns.

The DOJ will investigate four state prisons to determine if they are doing enough to protect inmates, providing sufficient mental health care, and offering suicide prevention services.
