New US Budget Cuts Foreign Aid And Safety Net Programs, Adds $2B For Border Wall

Just how much money does it take to run the United States for a year? According to a budget proposal released by the White House on Sunday: $4.8 trillion.

In Monday’s formal announcement, The Wall Street Journal says funding for foreign aid and social safety nets would be slashed dramatically, while $2 billion is earmarked for the southern border wall.

The budget also seeks to eliminate the federal deficit this decade, with $4.4 trillion in spending cuts slated over the next 10 years.

Increases for the Fiscal Year 2021 include boosts for the military, Homeland Security, NASA, the National Nuclear Security Administration, and the Department of Veterans Affairs.
