Divorce Rate In China Up After Coronavirus Quarantine

Experts expect a baby boom to come out of the coronavirus crisis. But perhaps the opposite might end up true.

In a warning to those currently hunkered down at home, numbers from China show that spending two months in quarantine wasn’t good for some marriages, leading to a spike in couples filing for divorce.

Media reports say that as soon as the lockdown was lifted in mid-March, residents flooded government offices.

“Staff members didn’t even have time to drink water,” they were so busy, noted the city of Miluo’s registration center director, Yi Xiaoyan.
