Federal Judge Shoots Down Request to Postpone Wisconsin Primaries

The Democratic effort to delay April 13th’s primary election in Wisconsin has been shot down by a federal judge.

U.S. District Judge William Conley on Thursday denied the party’s emergency request, saying he lacked the authority to make a ruling on the issue. The Wisconsin Democratic Party has argued that the state’s stay-at-home order will result in a poor voter turnout as people will refuse to wait in voting lines. While Conley indicated he agreed with the assessment, he said it’s the responsibility of state officials to make the decision.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers blasted the judge’s decision, saying his ruling is “endangering the population.”
