Los Angeles County will “with all certainty” extend its stay-at-home order for three more months.
That’s according to County Public Health Director Barara Ferrer, who made the revelation at a Board of Supervisors meeting on Tuesday. “Our hope is that by using the data, we’d be able to slowly lift restrictions over the next three months,” Ferrer said, adding a “dramatic change to the virus and tools at hand” would have to occur for the timeline to be reduced.
As of Tuesday afternoon, the county reports 32,258 COVID-19 cases and 1,569 deaths, leading California officials to call the Los Angeles area the state’s coronavirus epicenter. “It’s safer to stay at home,” Ferrer told the board. “COVID-19 has not changed.”
