Perhaps you recall the story of the British WWII veteran who raised close to £33 million ($40 million USD) for National Health Service charities on his 100th birthday last month by completing 100 laps in his garden.
Well, there’s a happy update. Captain Tom Moore will soon receive his knighthood.
Prime Minister Boris Johnson nominated Moore for the country’s honor, calling him, “a beacon of light through the fog of coronavirus” and “a true national treasure.”
To mark his 100-trip around the sun, an estimated 140,000 birthday cards were sent to Moore and the Royal Air Force did a flypast in celebration.
