Vehicle Theft Spikes In Pandemic

With more people staying at home during the COVID-19 crisis, more cars are being left on the streets. That’s a perfect storm for thieves to break into vehicles.

New numbers show that vehicle larcenies in New York have risen by 63 percent over this time last year.

In Los Angeles, car larcenies are up 17 percent over 2019.

Authorities say it is easier for us to leave the car door unlocked or the keys in the car. That makes it more convenient for a robber to take things out of the car or steal the vehicle outright.
