Brazil Now Fourth-Highest in COVID-19 Deaths

Brazil now has the fourth-highest number of Coronavirus deaths. The number of fatalities have risen by almost one thousand a day with 28,834 deaths.

Johns Hopkins University counts 498,440 Coronavirus cases in Brazil. Only the U.S. has more confirmed cases with 1.77 million.

Brazil’s President Jair Bolsonaro has played down the outbreak and has argued that the economic fallout of any lock down is worse than the outbreak. He is rarely seen wearing a mask and has called any lock down proposed by health officials “the tyranny of total quarantine.”
