Two siblings of George Floyd, the Minneapolis man who allegedly died after being pinned for minutes by an arresting officer, have posted GoFundMe fundraisers asking to help the family pay for travel and legal expenses and support for Floyd’s children.

Floyd’s brother Philonise was asking for help raising 1.5 million, saying on GoFundMe that 100% of the proceeds will go the family and will be managed by the family’s attorney. In five days, the GoFundMe page has received over 300,000 donations totaling over $8.5 million…and counting.

George’s sister, Bridgett, was hoping to raise $5,000 to pay for travel expenses for his memorial. So far, that GoFundMe page has raised over $229,000.
